DIY Wedding Welcome Signs

Image
DIY Wedding Welcome Signs Whether your wedding is in a backyard or down a long dirt road in the mountains, a sign is always a cute way to both welcome your guests to the ceremony or point them in the right direction when in doubt! In the first one, head to a local photographer or search online for a vendor who can create a custom life-size stand up photograph of yourselves. Do a silly pose, pointing in a direction to help the guests on their way. The second photograph is a wooden sign stuck into a large watering can flower pot with daisies. This, placed at the entry way of the reception, is a sweet touch and a great keepsake for after the reception. To create this one, take a piece of wood, about 4 inches thick and a yard long, and paint over it with white paint to create a background. (This couple painted circles creating a pattern on the wood.) Then, take a thick permanent marker in different colors (or a thin paintbrush and some water-resistant paint) and write your names on t...

Link Love: Shabby Chic

Image
Link Love: Shabby Chic This week's projects all have that certain something to make them look just broken-in enough -- without actually being shabby. Here's the best from around the net. 1. No Sew Headband.  It's no secret taht we're big fans of Non-Pareil Magazine yet, so we were hardly surprised to see that they came up with this glamorous no-sew headband.  ( NonPareilMag ) 2. Kanzashi Flower.  This cute flower puts a new twist on a traditional Japanese craft. You could easily make these in a variety of colors as decor or add them to your bridal party's gift bags.  ( Edie's Fashion Factory ) 3. Doily Banners.  It doesn't get much more shabby chic than this -- a banner made entirely or old doilies. These would look great hanging at an outdoor reception, or even to add an extra feminine touch to your bridal shower.  ( Katie Jean ) 4. Flag Book Cookbook.  Esther K. Smith, who wrote the cutest little book "The Paper Bride," came up with this proje...

DIY Flower Boutonniere

Image
DIY Flower Boutonniere This month's question comes from oohpieceofcandykim who wanted to learn how to make non-flowered boutonnieres. Visit our  message boards here  and send us your DIY questions. Your request could be answered in a future post. You don't have to use real flowers for your wedding boutonnieres -- here are three cute alternatives to a freshly picked bloom -- all using buttons. To create the yellow boutonniere: 1. Collect silver and yellow buttons of all sizes and shapes. 2. Arrange them one on top of the other to form mini arrangements resembling flowers. Use a green wire (fishing wire or those carried at craft stores works well) to thread through the buttons, holding them all together. 3. Gather all of the "stems" of your new little button flowers and wrap the green wire around it over and over to create volume. 4. Attach a safety pin to the back and you've got a little bouquet of buttons! (See how nice this one looks against the light suit? It...

Link Love: Girlie Inspiration

Image
Link Love: Girlie Inspiration We're feeling especially girlie around here lately, so today's Link Love is all about those feminine touches. Lots of flowers and even some classic tea party inspiration. 1. Say Cheese.  Have a sophisticated cocktail and cheese hour as your guests transition over into the reception with this cute DIY cheese tray.  ( Ritzy Bee Blog ) 2. Chiffon and Tulle Flowers.  Think you have to pay big to get this delicate and soft look? Think again. Small chiffon pieces and bits of tulle come together to make this delightfully elegant hair accessory (or you could even wear it as a brooch).  ( Project Wedding ) 3. Hankerchief Roses.  We get it, sometimes those heirlooms (like grandma's hankie) aren't actually worth hanging on to. But instead of just tossing them out, why not reclaim them into a beautiful rose collection?  ( Eco-Proper.com ) 4. Hole-Punch Flowers.  That's right! All you'll need to put this craft together is a simp...

Como fazer live npc

Image

Link Love: Old School

Image
Link Love: Old School It's Thursday and that means one thing: the best of what the web has to offer. Let's jump right to it. 1. Friendship Necklaces.  We promise these didn't go out of style! Really! OK, well, maybe you won't be wearing them out on a chic date, but this would make a wonderful (and memorable) project for you and your bridesmaids to try out.  ( Honestly WTF ). 2. Fabric Flowers.  If you're going for a retro-kitschy-cute wedding style, these handmade flowers could be just the thing for your bouquet. Just make sure you mismatch the fabric patterns like in the photo.  ( Snowy Bliss ) 3. Cheeky Chinese Fortune Teller.  Contraband at most grade schools -- you can show your wedding guests just what a rebel you are by presenting them at the reception. (Well, maybe not  that  daring). This is more of an inspirational link: the creator, Scott Bedford illustrates a sort of "choose your own ending" with illustrations. Sub in those illustrati...

DIY Name Banner

Image
DIY Name Banner Want to set up the perfect backdrop for your evening wedding? Create a banner with your names on it! Tie a 12-inch piece of ribbon to the top of each letter so that it hangs secure and straight. Attach each of those ribbons to a super long rope between two trees or posts outdoors. Twist a string of large Christmas lights to the rope so that sparkles of light are in between some of your hanging letters. This serves as a great backdrop to both celebrate your day and to eliminate confusion when everyone's looking through their summer wedding photos -- they'll know exactly which ones were from your gorgeous outdoor reception! (Another way to use these without making them the focus of your decor: hang them at the entrance, where your welcome sign would be! For other welcome sign ideas, go  here  and  here .)
