How to: DIY Mrs. Sash

Image
How to: DIY Mrs. Sash Have your bridesmaids create this personalized sash for you when planning your bachelorette party. Here's how they'll do it: Take a thin strip of white fabric, long enough to go across your body and be tied into a large knot or bow around your waist. On that strip, iron on letters with your new last name on it. That way, instead of using a generic "I'm the Bachelorette" sash, you can keep this one and reuse it! After wearing it all night celebrating your future-Mrs. status, you can share your good news with the world by hanging it on your door knocker at home. On the day of your wedding, tie the banner or tack it onto the door where you'll be getting ready! Photo by  Artistic Imagery . Get even more amazing DIY ideas in our  photo gallery . Link Love: Fashionista Finds

Image
Link Love: Fashionista Finds We'll admit it, sometimes weddings get a bad rep for not exactly being "fashion forward." So this week's Link Love is all about changing that. These projects are just too cute, and would be perfect for you, your bridesmaids, or even as a cute addition to your favorite honeymoon outfit. Enjoy! 1. DIY Pleated Skirt.  Direct from the UK, this skirt comes from DIY Couture, a boutique with a new twist: rather than buying the garment, you buy a  simple pattern  with easy-to-follow visual instructions. What a great concept! But today, you get this tutorial for free. Lucky you.  ( The Storque  via  DIY Couture ). 2. Blue Flower Necklace.  Bridesmaid gift? Or rehearsal dinner must? This fabric-rose necklace is so chic, you'll want to wear it everywhere.  ( Lollychops ). 3. DIY Fenton Necklace.  Jewelry designer Dana Lorenz created Fenton, a luxe line of bracelets and necklaces, and quickly made her way to fashion st...

Create your own Remembrance Table

Image
Create your own Remembrance Table What better way to display who you are and where you're both from than by turning your guestbook table into a table full of memories? Gather everything from old photographs of your great-grandparents right down to you and your husband. Pick photos of you and your hubby at various stages of your life. Add versions of your parents and grandparents as babies, toddlers and at their own wedding day. It's a great way to get your mom, or even grandma, and mother-in-law involved. Ask them to spend an afternoon with you digging up old photos in the attic. To add to this beautiful vintage vibe, consider including antiques, family heirlooms and any other items passed down through the generations of your family. For elegant vintage picture frames, try  YourPictureFrames.com . Or for more budget finds, try  Ebay.com . We love the idea of the old typewriter (in the photo on the right). In a similar vein, frame one of your favorite paintings, a poem, ...

Playing Card Table Numbers

Image
Playing Card Table Numbers If you're planning a Vegas wedding (either in lucky Las Vegas or just casino themed) add this special touch to the table numbers. Instead of your traditional 1-12, frame a deck of cards. Use several suits to accommodate the amount of tables you'll have at your wedding. How cute is this idea? We love the individual cards and then here's a shot of the table setting. (Our favorite little secret about this one? To tie it all together, add a pattern that matches with your decor to the back of the picture frame. Here, the couple used a peacock feather pattern which matches with the blues and greens in the linens!) Check out another Vegas idea  here . Photos by Kiersten Rowland,  Prema Photographic . DIY sandals.  That's right: these shoes are all homemade. Perfect for that beach honeymoon you've been planning.  ( AnneKata.blogspot.com ) 3. Hand towel handbags.  It's so hard to admit that summer is nearly over, so we're saying, hit the beach one more time with your bridesmaids and use this fashionable handbag made from a hand towel.  ( CraftTutorials.net ) 4. Felt rose earrings.  They could be cute accessory or handmade gift for your bridesmaids, or make and wear them yourself as your "something blue."  ( Rubies & Pearls ) 5. Fabric carnation tutorial.  This project could easily be ac...
